The experts at Oxford Dictionaries Online explain that the initialisms added to the dictionary are “noteworthy” and even happen to be “found outside of electronic contexts” at times.
Other additions include “March 24, 2011”, defined as the day that human language died.
I don’t understand why people are so angry about this.
The dictionaries respond to the changes in society’s language, nothing more.
The additions don’t equate to ‘Now you may use these initial-isms in scholarly conversation and get away with it’, they are just providing definitions.
